SUMMARY:
The Department of Mathematics at East Texas A&M University is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to start in the Fall 2026 semester. The successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, conduct scholarly research, provide service to the university and community, teach and develop Statistics and Data Science courses and mentor students in these areas.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching graduate and undergraduate classes in both face-to-face and online formats
- Initiating and sustaining research in math that culminate in publication in scholarly journals, professional presentations and/or funded external grants
- Providing service to the Department, College, University, and the profession
- Advising students
- Maintaining effective, professional and collegial relations with faculty, students and alumni
- Maintaining office hours (tutorials) on campus.
- Serve on selected Departmental, College and University committees
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: An earned Ph.D. in Mathematics or related field (degree must be earned before 31 August 2026).
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Evidence of potential for success in university-level teaching and ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for scholarly activity and for submission of proposal for external funding, and for serving the university and department.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Education and research experience in the field of Data science or Computational Mathematics
- Demonstrated success in securing external funding
- Experience with teaching on-line and distance learning
