Position Description

The Clinical Liaison will oversee existing clinical agency affiliations to ensure collegial relations, and to promote effective clinical partnerships and opportunities for EUSON students. To be the primary nursing facilitator for the SON to ensure that we review site effectiveness and seek out new or alternative placement locations as necessary. This position works closely with the Student Records and Compliance Officer to ensure that changes are tracked and is the primary person to visit each site with the Primary Course Instructor(s). As the Coordinator of Skill Development, this individual overseas the schedule of Lab skill/practice sessions to ensure that these are staffed appropriately. Workload allocation and planning inform budget requests for staffing. This person will assist with skills training sessions and round with the faculty/staff to ensure that pre and post skill workshops are evaluated for efficiency and effectiveness. Tracking of document compliance for clinical progression of students within the School of Nursing that is informed by clinical agency partner feedback. Involved in the review of contracts for clinical placements. The Coordinator of Skill Development will develop lab schedules and faculty assignments in consultation with the BSN nursing faculty. Schedules will be confirmed with involvement from the Program Directors, Simulation Educator, and Associate Dean of Nursing. As part of ensuring compliance with accreditation bodies, this person will coordinate the collection and analysis of outcomes data in adherence to accreditation standards.

Position Responsibilities

Student Compliance:

  • Liaise with Student Records and Compliance Officer regarding updates to student compliance documentation.
  • Reviews compliance documentation and assists prompts for students, as needed.
  • Meets with Student Records and Compliance Officer to review any student who has failed in their compliance and follows up with BSN Program Director, Associate Dean and course coordinators while maintaining confidentiality of student records and information per legal mandates.
  • Confirms with Student Records and Compliance Officer updates to the process of onboarding paperwork and electronic forms as requested by clinical sites.
  • Attends student orientations for traditional and MSN groups as needed.
  • Affirms verification of the nursing education of new graduates by entering their information in the PA State Board of Nursing online system (eppiccNURSE).

Clinical Site Coordination:

  • Meets with Student Records and Compliance Officer regarding the clinical placement efforts for nursing students for each clinical rotation in collaboration with Program Directors, Associate Dean and course coordinators.
  • Develops long-term professional and collegial relationships with clinical partners and seeks to grow new opportunities.
  • Serves as designated liaison with clinical partners; works with Student Records and Compliance Officer to problem-solve requests/needs,
  • Reviews Student Records and Compliance Officer master clinical spreadsheet/schedules and works to develop a lab workshop schedule in consultation with Associate Dean, Program Directors, and course coordinators.
  • Ensures that the arrangement of semester-based rotations match the needs of Lab Workshop, Simulation, and Clinical section priorities.
  • Attends advisory council and clinical coordination meetings to represent the Eastern University School of Nursing.
  • Researches and identifies new clinical sites to expand current learning experiences for students.
  • Assists in obtaining new and renewed agreements, as needed.

Faculty Compliance and Onboarding:

  • Assists Administrative Assistant with updated requirements for faculty compliance documentation.
  • Assists with identification of potential clinical instructors.
  • Facilitates new clinical instructor computer training and onboarding at clinical sites, as needed.
  • Assists Associate Dean and Program Directors with faculty load and semester scheduling spreadsheets related to lab workload.
  • Serves as the School’s “Program Contact Person” for all nursing faculty/adjunct lab workshop contracts.
  • Attends semi-annual Clinical Instructor Workshop/Orientation.

Data Management and Committees:

  • Assists in maintaining the quality of the curriculum by compiling outcomes data generated by students, faculty, clinical agencies and alumni for lab and clinical skill development. Provides data to Associate Dean and appropriate committees while maintaining confidentiality of information.
  • Creates data reports, as requested by Associate Dean, for the completion of accreditation and State Board of Nursing annual reports and site visits.
  • Assist with the creation and updating of spreadsheets to track student attrition, NCLEX pass rates, post-graduate employment and externship placements.
  • Serves on the Clinical Practice Committee and assists in developing and implementing initiatives that focus on the clinical experience.
  • Serves on the Research Committee and assists in reporting department findings for CCNEStandard IV and annual systematic evaluation review.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing.
  • Current Pennsylvania registered license or eligibility for Pennsylvania licensure.
  • High level of organizational, managerial, and professional communication skills.
  • Current knowledge and experience with curriculum design and nursing education.
  • Evidence of scholarship commensurate with a tenure line position.
  • Experience with teaching nursing in classroom and clinical settings.
  • Keen organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate
