Position Summary
The Assistant Dean of Experiential Education reports to the Dean and is responsible for the overall direction, performance, growth, implementation, and assessment of the Residency-in-Practice Program (“Residency”). The Assistant Dean also works closely with the law school’s Vice Dean, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and Assistant Dean of Career and Student Development on the administration of the Residency. The Assistant Dean will also oversee law school externships, in conjunction with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.

Minimum Required Education and Experience
J.D. degree or its equivalent
Preferred Education and Experience
Some experience working in education or with law students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook, as well as comfort working with data.
Job Duties
- Essential Functions
- In conjunction with the law school leadership and the faculty, develop and implement a vision for the Residency program, particularly as the law school grows its dual-campus model.
- Oversee administration of the Residency program. Identify, select, train, and work with site supervisors. Must build strong relationships with site supervisors and manage their expectations about the program.
- Facilitate site applications to the program. Connect students with their placements. Travel to placements is expected.
- Work with staff from the Office of Career and Student Development to administer the match program for judicial and general residencies.
- Develop, maintain, and regularly improve residency materials, including a shell course for faculty supervisors.
- Cultivate relationships with students about residency experiences. Meet with students to advise about their residency experiences and desired outcomes.
- Design and deliver the Residency Bootcamp twice a year (Winter and Spring). Develop and deliver informational workshops to 1Ls about the Residency process.
- Collaborate with the Law School Director of Communications and Marketing to plan, organize, and produce web and print-based marketing materials and social media communications about the Residency program.
- Manage the procedures, data collection, and technology for the Residency program, including innovations to make the program more efficient and effective.
- Develop new policies and procedures for the administration of the Residency. Oversee compliance with relevant ABA Standards for experiential education.
