The University of Mount Union seeks a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty in the School of Nursing. We seek a colleague eager to contribute to our strategic growth in our top-ranked CCNE accredited BSN program. The successful candidate will engage in innovative teaching, foster student learning, and play a vital role in shaping the next generation of professional nurses.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities & Functions of the Nursing Faculty:

In collaboration with the Nursing Director, and within the internal governance procedures of the School, responsibilities and essential functions include, but may not be limited to, the following:

1. Teach a total of 32 credit/contact hours across the entire year, with specific course load in each semester to be determined in consultation with the Program Director based primarily on the needs of the program.

2. Establish course objectives for class, laboratory, and/or clinical courses.

3. Plan and coordinate classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning activities (including special/observational experiences) to meet course/program objectives.

4. Prepare course syllabus and communicate objectives/expectations to clinical adjunct instructors and students.

5. Maintain quality education through various modalities of presenting current, accurate nursing content.

6. Assign remediation to support students’ achievement of course outcomes.

7. Maintain office hours, as required by the university, to be available for students.

8. Maintain open communication with clinical adjunct faculty and/or preceptors on a regular basis.

9/ Evaluate students’ progress and achievement of course outcomes.

10. Contribute to the work of projects through the SON governance structure.

11. Participate in program meetings and activities.

12. Provide academic advising for assigned students.

Qualifications

Required Credentials of the Nursing Faculty:

  • Completion of an approved registered nursing education program in a jurisdiction as defined in paragraph (R) of rule 4723-5-01 of the Administrative Code;
  • Experience for at least two years as a registered nurse;
  • A master’s degree:

* If the individual does not possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, the master’s or doctoral degree shall be in nursing.
* If the individual does possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, the master’s degree may be, but is not required to be in nursing; and

  • Current, valid licensure as an advanced practice registered nurse in Ohio.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved registered nursing education program and a master’s degree.
  • Experience for at least two years as a registered nurse.
  • Eligibility for nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
