Description:

The Professor of Practice in Kinesiology will be required to teach coursework in the undergraduate and graduate Kinesiology programs, which include Exercise Science, Health & Wellness, and Sport Administration. The ideal candidate will be an innovative educator with professional expertise in exercise science, health and wellness, sport administration, or sport performance, and with demonstrated excellence in building, delivering, and enhancing online learning experiences.

This full-time, non-tenure-track faculty role includes teaching responsibilities and a key partnership with the Program Director to develop forward-looking online curriculum; especially through the integration of AI-enabled learning tools and the digital application of skillsets relevant to today’s kinesiology workforce. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of the Kinesiology program in curriculum development and oversight of the Kinesiology programs.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • PhD in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sport Administration, Human Performance, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering online courses using best practices in instructional design.
  • Evidence of professional practice experience in one or more kinesiology fields (e.g., sports performance, clinical exercise physiology, coaching, wellness leadership, sport administration).
  • Familiarity with Canvas LMS or similar platforms.
  • Experience using or integrating AI-based learning tools, digital platforms, or emerging technologies in education.
  • Commitment to inclusive pedagogy, practical skill development, and high-impact teaching practices.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:

  • Ability to develop and deliver creative, innovation and rigorous higher education programs
  • Ability to develop and maintain industry relationships that lead to internship and job opportunities for students and graduates
  • Ability to provide quality academic advisement to working adult students.
  • Ability to work well with individuals of various ages and backgrounds

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience developing curriculum at the program or institutional level.
  • Demonstrated success creating AI literacy or digital skills modules for applied professional programs.
  • Experience with industry certifications (e.g., CSCS, ACSM-CEP, CHWC, NASM, ISSN).
  • Experience mentoring nontraditional, online, or adult learners.
  • Strong record of collaborative work in academic or professional teams.
