The Augustana University Computer Science Department invites applications for tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor positions in Computer Science & Software Engineering. Interested candidates should be capable of developing and teaching core computer science and software engineering courses in various areas in accordance with departmental and university needs. Some of these needs may include programming (various languages), algorithms & data structures, software engineering, theory of computation, web application development, computer architecture, operating systems, networking, and artificial intelligence, at the undergraduate level.
The duties, competencies and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching courses in support of the university’s computer science and software engineering program. Courses to be taught are dependent on specialization and interests of the successful applicant.
- Demonstrating a record of scholarly activities and research.
- Contributing to student success through advising and mentoring.
- Engaging in service to the department, university and community.
- Outreaching with local and regional businesses.
Qualifications for this position:
- The successful candidate will have a PhD in computer science, software engineering, or a related field by the start date of the appointment.
- Experience teaching in computer science, software engineering, or a related area at the university level.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence including use of multiple educational delivery media and online/distance education.
- Demonstrated commitment to involvement in scholarly activity.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, serving a nontraditional, culturally, economically and linguistically diverse student body.
Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
