Position Summary:
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Central Michigan University, seeks a biochemist or chemist with experience and research interest in the field of biochemistry or chemical biology. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally-funded research program. In addition, the appointee will be expected to mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and within the Biochemistry, Cellular, and Molecular Biology (BCMB) M.S. and Ph.D. programs. Candidates should be able to teach biochemistry/BCMB courses as well as advanced courses in their area of specialty.
Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. is required in biochemistry or chemistry with experience and research interest in the field of biochemistry or chemical biology. The Ph.D. must be earned by the start of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant postdoctoral experience is strongly preferred.

About the Department:
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry offers ACS and ASBMB-accredited undergraduate programs, which feature required capstone research programs. We offer modern facilities and instrumentation in the Dow Science Complex and Biosciences Building (opened in 2016), with recent acquisitions of NMR and mass spectrometry instruments, a biocontainment lab, core facilities for microscopy and flow cytometry, and other major equipment.
Central Michigan University is an R2 doctoral-granting institution with a medical school. This will allow for ample opportunities for research collaborations among relevant CMU departments, as well as external agencies.
