Job Summary
The Adjunct History Instructor is responsible for teaching history courses on a part-time basis. This role involves delivering engaging lectures, facilitating discussions, and assessing student performance to foster a deep understanding of historical events and contexts.
Job Duties:
- Teach History (HIS) 109: History of the US Since 1865 to dual credit students. The course is scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the Urban Metro campus in Covington.
- Provide instruction on historical topics, ensuring students gain a comprehensive understanding of significant events, figures, and movements.
- Encourage active participation through discussions, group activities, and other interactive teaching methods.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in History from a regionally accredited institution.
- Passionate about history and education, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Possess outstanding interpersonal skills, capable of effectively communicating with individuals at all levels within the college and with external business and community partners. Represents themselves professionally and courteously.
- Communicates clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Able to handle multiple tasks, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines efficiently and accurately.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred.
- Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
