Faculty Professor Communication Job Description

Responsibilities:

This faculty member will be expected to teach courses across the Communications & Media Studies Department. The department is currently seeking a nine-month continuing track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to begin in January 2025. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for teaching courses within the department. Applications are welcomed from candidates with a variety of specialties and qualifications to teach in the department’s four specializations – broadcasting, media studies, media writing, and public relations. Expertise and experience in news reporting, broadcasting, public relations and media production software such as Adobe Premiere and the Adobe Creative Suite are also welcomed.

In addition to teaching duties, the faculty member will be expected to contribute to curriculum development, student advising, university service and to pursue scholarly research.

Communication is one of six departments in Biscayne College, which features a diverse, international faculty of scholars. We welcome applicants capable of contributing to the department’s global and broad orientation toward communications studies. This is an in-person position with an anticipated start date of January 2025.

Essential Functions:

Teach classes in the Communications & Media Studies department.

Participate in student advising. Contribute to program and curricular development. Contribute to department and university service.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

A Ph.D. (or other terminal degree) in Communication or a closely related field is required. Knowledge of contemporary practices and theories of communications and media.
