Job description
Stillwater, OK
ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE/FULL
PROFESSOR OF PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
The School of Marketing and International Business (SMIB) in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a Professor of Professional Practice position slated to begin in August 2025. Applicants for all ranks will be considered. The SMIB has faculty members located on both the Stillwater and Tulsa campuses; this position will be located on the Stillwater Campus. The position requires teaching seven sections per year (Fall and Spring semester), although teaching loads can be adjusted based on administrative or other assigned duties.
The Department: Scholarly research, student instruction, and professional outreach to our stakeholders are highly valued in the School of Marketing and International Business. Professors of Professional Practice focus primarily on instruction and outreach. The department consists of over 20 faculty members and includes both tenure track and Professors of Professional Practice. Professors of Professional Practice teach in key areas (e.g., our undergraduate course in the core curriculum; our professional sales program; marketing analytics); serve in a variety of administrative roles (e.g., Assistant Department Head; Director, Center for Sales and Service Excellence); and serve our department and key stakeholders in a variety of ways, including revenue generation for the SMIB.
The department provides direct academic leadership and courses in both marketing and international business, with over 1600 undergraduate students with majors in these areas. The position will teach at the undergraduate and (possibly) graduate levels based on faculty qualification.
The Faculty Position: The SMIB is seeking a strong leader to develop its supply chain management program. Leadership and growth of the program is a key priority; this will include oversight of curriculum, attraction of students, engagement with internal stakeholders at OSU (including other units that address supply chain management issues), engagement with external stakeholders, and funding relevant activities as needed. Experience with funded research is strongly preferred. This position will teach undergraduate courses in supply chain management with the possibility of adding graduate level courses as the program grows. Applicants should hold (at least) a relevant M.S. degree (PhD preferred); have (at least) five recent years of meaningful industry experience in the area of supply chain management; and be able to demonstrate teaching excellence (or the potential for teaching excellence). Finally, all candidates for the position must hold and maintain qualifications for AACSB accreditation.
The appointment is for three years and can be renewed. Applicant screening will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. All positions are contingent upon available funding.
Administrative Responsibilities: At a minimum, this position will be responsible for the development of the supply chain program in the SMIB. This responsibility carries with it a one-course teaching release. If the individual selected for this role no longer manages the supply chain program in the SMIB, the teaching load reverts to the appropriate teaching load accordingly.
How to apply
Applicants should upload a letter of interest, a vita, names of references and any other supporting documents. This position will remain open until filled. Please direct inquiries to Dr. Tom J. Brown, Head, School of Marketing and International Business ([email protected]).
