University of The Bahamas College of Pure & Applied Sciences is pleased to invite applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor, Mathematics.

This full-time appointment will begin August 1, 2025.

The department of Mathematics is seeking a faculty colleague with a record of excellence in teaching undergraduate students; a clear record of research and scholarship and the ability to secure external research funds. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and is responsible for delivering the lower-level mathematics course in fulfillment of the University’s General Education numeracy requirement. We especially encourage applications from those professionals who can establish a research agenda that applies statistics and other mathematical/computational methods to addressing issues in agriculture, ecology, finance,health, biology, economics and energy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Chair of the School of Mathematics, Physics & Technology, theAssistant/Associate Professor shall:

• Teach undergraduate mathematics or statistics courses to majors and non-majors;

• Engage in research and scholarship;

• Assist in securing external grants and other funding opportunities;

• Engage in curriculum review, revision and development;

• Participate in student recruitment and advisement;

• Serve on departmental, school and university-wide committees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have an earned PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics,statistics or a closely related field from an accredited institution; a minimum of three years full-time teaching or research at the tertiary level; evidence of research, scholarship and publications in peer-reviewed journals; evidence of the ability to secure external research funding. Applicants who demonstrate the ability to establish a research agenda that applies statistics and other mathematical/computational methods to addressing issues in agriculture,ecology, finance, health, biology, economics and energy will be given special consideration.
