Position Description

The School of Art and Design at Texas State University seeks to develop a pool of candidates for possible temporary non-tenure line faculty in art, art education, art history, communication design, photography and studio art.

Temporary/nontenured faculty are appointed to teach one to four courses per semester. Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester-by-semester basis. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental needs.

Successful candidates may teach at the San Marcos and/or online, depending on the needs of the academic department.

This posting is for the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2024/2025 semesters.

Please note that this posting is not intended to convey that such a need currently exists. Applicants applying for a pool faculty position will be available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case the need arises.

Required Qualifications

Specific educational requirements vary by position, but a minimum of a bachelors degree or commensurate experience is required for Communication Design, Studio Art, and Photography. A minimum of a Masters degree or commensurate experience is required for Art Education and Art
History.

Preferred Qualifications

Terminal degree in the discipline or equivalent relevant professional experience and prior teaching experience are preferred.
