Job Summary
The College of Education and Psychology at the University of Texas at Tyler invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor rank and salary commensurate with experience in educational leadership/administration or school leadership in the School of Education. The position will begin in Fall 2025. This is a nine-month academic appointment plus summer support and responsibilities.
The priority application deadline is January 31, 2025, but applications will be reviewed immediately, and the position will remain open until filled.
Essential Functions
- Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Pursue an active scholarly research agenda.
- Teach graduate courses in educational leadership/administration.
- Advise and mentor graduate students (e.g., dissertation committees).
- Seek grant funds to support research and teaching activities.
- Actively support local area schools.
- Provide service to the field and profession at the local, state, and national levels.
- Contribute to the university, the East Texas community, and the profession through service and outreach activities.
Required Qualifications
- An earned doctorate in Educational Leadership/Administration.
- Evidence of ability to conduct a focused and sustained research agenda.
- Minimum of three (3) years PK-12 teaching experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of leadership at the school or district level.
- Ability to collaborate with Education faculty in SOE for research and pursuit of external funding.
- Evidence of preparation to teach courses related to educational leadership and/or school improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of scholarship as measured by peer-reviewed product.
- Evidence of successful university teaching in courses targeted for educators.
- Evidence of successful PK-12 leadership at the school and district levels.
- Experience in school finance.
- Expertise in Carnegie Improvement Science based School improvement.
- Ability to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.
- Expertise in state school accountability.
- Expertise in Mixed Methods and Evaluation Research.

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
