The Office of Teacher Education and Certification (OTEC) at Gettysburg College invites applications for a three-year Lecturer position in the new online Master of Education (M.Ed.) Program in Educational Inquiry and Design to begin immediately. The M.Ed. in Educational Inquiry and Design is a fully online graduate program that prepares educators for the dynamic challenges of modern classrooms. This program emphasizes inquiry-based, design-centered, and transformative teaching practices, fostering reflective, collaborative, and creative learning environments.
We seek passionate educators dedicated to advancing inquiry-based learning, design thinking, and transformative teaching practices. This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape and launch the inaugural cohort of practicing K-12 teachers as graduate students, beginning in Summer 2025. This position will be hired for a three-year term, renewable each year based on a favorable performance review. The Lecturer position will include (1) teaching the equivalent of 6 graduate and undergraduate courses over the course of the academic year and summer; (2) performing administrative responsibilities in support of the M.Ed. program (e.g., marketing and recruitment; engagement with alumni, school districts, and professional networks; collaboration with faculty and staff to recruit and support adjunct faculty; continuous program development, assessment, and learning outcome evaluations); and (3) advising M.Ed. graduate students.
Gettysburg College is a highly selective liberal arts college located within 90 minutes of the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. Established in 1832, the College has a rich history and is situated on a 220-acre campus with an enrollment of over 2,300 students.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree (required) or a Doctorate (preferred) in educational psychology, universal design, or a related field. Applicants must be able to demonstrate effective teaching in educational psychology, teaching methods, cognitive science and learning, action research, inquiry, reflective teaching, design thinking, and innovative teaching practices, with teaching experience at both K-12 and higher education levels. Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
