Job Description

The School of Education at Nevada State University invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure track, Assistant Professor in Residence, School Psychology to begin on October 1, 2025. The individual in this position will teach graduate level courses in School Psychology in the post-baccalaureate program. Courses will include but not be limited to: Cultural Ecological Model in School Psychology, Integrated Supports and Understanding Student Risk, Evidence Based Interventions to Promote Mental Health, and Crisis Prevention and Intervention for Children and Youth.

This position is grant funded through September 30, 2027. Any continuation in this position will be based on additional grant funding.

Housed in the award-winning Christensen Education Building, a diverse and growing faculty works to address critical shortages in Nevada including PK-12 teachers, speech pathologists, and school psychologists. Extensive systems to support the success of SOE students have been implemented. The SOE partners with local high schools to grow the teacher pipeline with Teacher Academies as well as our on-site Early Childhood Education Center. Additionally, the SOE has articulation agreements with Nevada’s two-year colleges. The SOE houses two graduate programs, the M.Ed. in Speech Language Pathology and an Ed.S. in School Psychology.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach 24 credits per academic year, which amounts to four courses per semester.
  • Teach courses in a variety of formats (e.g., in-person, hybrid, online, accelerated).
  • Serve on school and college-wide committees.
  • Engage in scholarly activity within your discipline or in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in School-based Mental Health or related field.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Please note: Applicants must meet the posted minimum qualifications at the time of application in order to be considered for the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a School Psychologist by the Nevada Department of Education.
  • Minimum of three years of school psychology practitioner experience in PK-12 settings.
  • Teaching experience in higher education, in particular, asynchronous courses.
  • Experience with program and curriculum and development in higher education.
  • Willingness to collaborate, internally and externally, to promote and recruit for the post-baccalaureate program.

Rank, Salary & Benefits:

9-month. Non-tenure track. Salary commensurate with experience.
