Job Summary

The Academic Dean will provide leadership for the Arts, Communication & Design and Global, Human and Social Service pathways. Pathways and Academic Departments may change over time to meet the needs of ACC and the community we serve.

The Dean understands, promotes, and executes the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the Division of Instruction, ACC, and the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) with the goal of achieving instructional outcomes that align with the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE). This visible position represents the College to internal and external stakeholders and the community. The Dean provides direction, and allocates time to developing internal and external partnerships, especially those related to development of industry partnerships to support student success in clinicals, practicums, apprenticeships, and job placement.

The Dean provides leadership and supervision for faculty and administrative direct reports. Specific responsibilities include: recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff; provide fiscal accountability for assigned cost centers, coordinate program renewals, lead annual comprehensive program reviews, provide oversight for instructional assessment initiatives, ensures accreditation for academic programs, facilitate curriculum and program development, resolve student and personnel issues, promote instructional programs and participate in other related instructional projects that benefit students, faculty, and the college.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree, or higher, from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of administrative or supervisory leadership experience.
  • Experience developing, managing, and evaluating employees.
  • Experience in budget preparation and management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues and trends in higher education that affect budgets, policies, student services, tuition models, and instructional strategies.
  • Experience in data analytics, business intelligence and artificial intelligence tools and applications desired.
  • Experience teaching and/or training with adult learners.
  • Experience integrating current technology to enhance productivity and facilitate learning.
  • Demonstrated success in curriculum and program development incorporating adult learning theory.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance, governing boards, or accreditation agencies.
  • Grant management experience.
