Description:

Women’s College Hospital (WCH) is seeking to recruit a qualified full-time academic respirologist to serve as Head of the Division of Respirology, Department of Medicine. The ideal candidate will be a leader, with established skills in the areas of clinical care, administration, education and/or research, and change management. This individual will be committed to a career in academic respirology as a Clinician Teacher/Clinician Educator, Clinician in Innovation & Quality, or Clinician Scientist/Investigator and be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate must also hold a MD degree, be eligible for certification in Respirology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, and have, or be eligible for licensure in Ontario. The effective start date is July 1, 2025 or a mutually agreeable date.

The successful candidate will assess and align the resources of the Division with the strategic directions of the Department of Medicine and WCH and undertake human resources planning with a view to the academic mission of the Department of Medicine in teaching, research, QI and clinical care. The incumbent will also mentor faculty and promote professional practice and behaviour within the Division. Lastly, the incumbent will build strategic partnerships with the other TAHSN hospitals and community stakeholders, to develop and implement strategies to evolve the Division as a model for ambulatory teaching, QI, research and delivery of clinical care in the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto.

Women’s College Hospital is the first independent, fully ambulatory hospital in Ontario and is a University of Toronto fully-affiliated teaching hospital. The ideal candidate will have academic aspirations that are aligned with the mission, vision, and values of WCH. WCH strategic priorities include (i) Lead the New Era of Sex and Gender in Health, (ii) Move the Needle on Health Equity, and (iii) Reimagine the Health System with and for patients. (Women’s College Hospital: Strategic Plan). Women’s College Hospital is the home of the Women’s College Hospital Research and Innovation Institute, Learning Institute and the Learning Health System (LHS) Collaboratory.

Initial appointments are for a five-year term and renewable thereafter, based on performance. Academic rank, remuneration and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
