ABOUT JCCC

Johnson County Community College (JCCC) is a comprehensive, public, two-year institution of higher education. The main campus is located on 245 acres in Overland Park, Kansas. JCCC is the state’s third largest institution of higher education and the largest of the nineteen community colleges in the state of Kansas, educating over 24,000 students.

Established in 1969, JCCC is dedicated to transforming lives and strengthening communities through learning and has enjoyed a national reputation for educational excellence and student success for more than 50 years. Johnson County Community College offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs, including Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science, and Associate of General Studies. JCCC maintains over 100 articulation agreements with regional colleges and universities to facilitate seamless transfers for students. The Continuing Education division provides courses and certificate programs designed to prepare the current workforce for future challenges. Additionally, they offer life and leisure programs that promote lifelong learning.

JCCC brings the best in arts and culture to Johnson County, Kansas. With nearly 175 annual events, the Midwest Trust Center is one of the largest multidisciplinary performing arts series in the region. And the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art is a major cultural center and the only museum in Kansas dedicated to contemporary art. Since its opening in 2007, the museum has presented numerous exhibitions and welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually, making it a significant cultural destination in the region.

At JCCC, students have the opportunity to participate in more than 80 clubs and organizations that satisfy a wide variety of interests. Additionally, they offer seven competitive athletic programs that are highly regarded throughout the region and country. Students can even take their educational aspirations abroad and participate in one of many Study Abroad programs.

JCCC maintains a 245-acre main campus in Overland Park. The physical campus is expansive, with over 20 buildings, athletic fields, and the three-acre Open Petal Farm. Recent construction efforts were part of the College’s 2016 Facilities Master Plan and included the new Fine Arts & Design Studio and the Hugh L. Libby Career and Technical Education Center. JCCC is currently developing a new ten-year Facilities Master Plan to guide future investment in campus facilities and infrastructure.

In addition to the main campus, JCCC offers classes at other locations, including the West Park Center, a new Commercial Driver’s License training facility in Edgerton, and the Olathe Health Education Center.

JCCC delivers a cohesive, campus-wide support system for its student body, which includes nontraditional, military-affiliated, veteran, immigrant, international, and first-generation college students. The student body reflects the growing racial and ethnic diversity of the county. JCCC is a recognized regional and national leader integrating sustainability into both physical campus operations and classroom curriculum. The JCCC Cavalier athletes compete in the Kansas Jayhawk Conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association. In recent years these student athletes have captured 11 national championships.

THE VICE PRESIDENT & CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

The Vice President/Chief Financial Officer (VP/CFO) is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to ensure the financial integrity of Johnson County Community College (JCCC). As a member of the President’s Cabinet, the VP/CFO is responsible for the leadership of the Financial Services and Business Services departments, overseeing approximately 200 employees. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Finance & Administrative Services, the VP/CFO will provide strategic financial direction, ensure the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, manage the annual budget process, oversee capital financing and debt management, and oversee College procurement activities. The VP/CFO will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership and Oversight: Lead and manage the Financial Services and Business Services departments, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Financial Reporting: Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of all financial reports, including monthly internal financial statements, the annual financial statement audit report, and the College’s budget documents, in compliance with applicable federal, state, and other regulations.
  • Board Engagement: Provide regular reports to the Management & Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees and offer financial insights to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees for strategic decision-making.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the development and management of the College’s annual budget process, ensuring that long-range budget forecasts and financial plans align with the College’s strategic goals and meet statutory requirements.
  • Capital Financing and Debt Management: Oversee capital financing, debt management, and investment of reserve funds in accordance with statutory requirements. Recommend financing strategies that meet the College’s needs while maintaining high-quality bond ratings.
  • Internal Control: Establish and maintain appropriate levels of internal control to safeguard the College’s assets. Recommend, implement, and monitor policies and procedures related to financial management.
  • Procurement Oversight: Oversees procurement activities, including strategic vendor alliances, competitive procurements, negotiations, and contract processes, ensuring all procurement commitments are appropriately directed and authorized.
  • Customer Service and Operational Excellence: Ensure business/auxiliary units provide high levels of customer service and are designed and monitored for sustainable operation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Higher Education Administration is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • Experience in a higher education setting is preferred.
