Eastern Illinois University is pleased to invite applications for the Assistant Professor in Public Health & Nutrition – Public Health position. This position is a full-time, tenure track appointment comprised of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses across all degree programs while conducting discipline- specific research and/or creative activity and providing service to the University. Courses to be taught may include but are not limited to: research methods, program planning, community & public health, personal health, and human sexuality. Ability to teach motivational interviewing a plus. There will be opportunities to develop expertise-specific elective courses and mentor student scholarship.

Starting Date: August 16, 2025

Qualifications: Earned a doctorate in Community Health, Public Health, Health Education, Health Sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution (ABD candidates are encouraged to apply; a doctoral degree completed by the starting date is preferred). Excellent communication skills and a desire to work in collaborative teams that include other health-related disciplines, such as exercise science, nursing, social work, and healthcare leadership, are essential. Must have a commitment to working with all learners in a wholistic and developmental manner. Demonstrated proficiency in college teaching.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of three years of teaching experience in a university. Experience teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities.

Membership and involvement in professional organizations; record of research experience and peer- reviewed publications; experience working with honors students. Experience with curriculum development a plus.

Salary/Pay Rate Range:

Salary range is $60,300.00 – $63,000 annually with the possibility of overload and/or summer teaching.
