Job SummaryCentral Washington University is recruiting a Lecturer to join our Aviation team in Ellensburg, Washington. The Role:

The Aviation Department at CWU is accepting applications to fill a current full-time lecturer position to teach lecture and/or simulator lab classes in the courses/subject areas listed below. This list is not all inclusive: other courses/subject areas may become available within the department.

Flight Courses: FAA ground school classes (Private, instrument, commercial, multi-engine, CFI, and CFII) and meteorology.

Aviation Management Courses: Air Transportation, Aviation Data Analysis, International Aviation Management, Aviation Marketing, Aviation Career Planning and Professionalism, and Airport Management related courses.

This position plays a vital role in shaping the vision, mission, and values of Central Washington University by enhancing the Aviation Department as the trusted choice for aspiring pilots. The Department Faculty create a work and learning environment built on trust, accountability, excellence, safety, and stewardship. This important position will influence the future of aviation by promoting a culture that embodies these principles, all within an academic framework that emphasizes innovation and professional integrity in flight training and education. Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree (with advanced flight ratings to teach Aviation Flight Courses; with five years aviation industry experience to teach Aviation Management Courses).
  • Excellent communication skills including basic computer knowledge, including but not limited to use of multimedia and online course delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or experience working collaboratively with students and/or colleagues to foster a supportive and effective learning and work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree in Aviation or related field.
  • FAA flight instructor certificate.
  • Background and experience to teach in all of the areas listed above.
  • Primary & advanced flight training in airplanes; CFI with minimum 1500 hours civilian CFI experience in airplanes.
  • Experience in instructing in multi-engine FTD¿s (simulators).
  • Collegiate aviation teaching experience.
  • Recent turbine-engine flight experience; multi-engine rating, MEI; CFII.
  • Experience delivering courses via distance education.
  • Demonstrated participation in programs designed to promote student success.
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for students through various activities.

Pay & Work ScheduleAnnual Salary: $42,750 – $53 ,460 based on a full-time nine-month appointment.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Appointment: Temporary, Non-Tenure Track, 9 Month Appointment. Additional Summer teaching may be available. Central Washington University is on the quarter system with appointments from mid-September through mid-June.
