Maryville University is looking for an Assistant Professor of Teacher Education to collaborate and teach in undergraduate and graduate programs with an emphasis on teaching mathematics education. The successful candidate should be able to teach in a variety of areas within the teacher preparation program. Teaching areas include, but are not limited to, mathematics education, instructional coaching, and pedagogical practices of elementary and secondary schools. The position also involves participation in partner school activities.

  • Teach a broad range of mathematics, mathematics education, and teacher education courses.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality instruction through innovative and inclusive teaching

Practices.

  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and professional

Development.

  • Participate in curriculum development and program assessment.
  • Mentor and advise students on academic and career-related matters.
  • Contribute to the university community through committee service and collaboration with faculty and staff.
  • Utilize technology and digital learning tools effectively to enhance student engagement

and learning outcomes.Minimum Qualifications

Experience working with diverse populations.
Dedication to excellence in teaching, scholarship, teamwork, and service to the University and simultaneous renewal of schools and teacher education is essential.
Candidate must possess a master’s degree in education with advanced coursework leading to a doctoral degree in progress.
Teacher certification and classroom experience teaching mathematics and working with struggling students at the secondary level.

Preferred Qualifications

Training and experience as a mathematics teacher grades PK-12.
Doctorate strongly preferred
