Kentucky Wesleyan College, a private, liberal arts college with a long-standing reputation for quality and academic excellence, is seeking applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor of Education with a start date of August 15th, 2026.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to teach a range of education courses and a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Special consideration will be given to candidates with backgrounds in special education, but all excellent candidates will receive full consideration.
Major Responsibilities
- Maintain a teaching load of 4 courses per semester.
- Teach courses on a variety of topics in education (e.g., subject-specific methods, classroom management, teaching methods, assessment, etc.).
- Provide academic advising for education majors as assigned.
- Encourage and oversee scholarly contributions to the field.
- Serve as a faculty advisor to student organizations as requested.
- Represent the department at recruitment events.
- Contribute your professional expertise to the department, college, profession, and community.
Qualifications
- Terminal degree in Education by start of appointment (ABD considered). Candidates with Master’s degree are eligible for the rank of Instructor
- A strong commitment to teaching, advising, mentoring, and working with undergraduate students.
- A minimum of 3 years teaching experience in the elementary classroom.
- A passion for providing an exceptional classroom experience for our students.
- A passion to serve Kentucky Wesleyan College in accordance with The Wesleyan Way.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability and desire to work collaboratively with students, serve as a team member with faculty and staff, and to be of service to the college and to the external community.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and professional experiences
