Position Summary
The Department of Computer Science at Indiana University South Bend has a full-time one-year visiting assistant professor position starting August 1, 2025. Applicants should have at least a Master’s degree in Computer Science, or a closely related field, PhD or ABD preferred. Preference will be given to those with experience/expertise in teaching the courses where the department has the most need. The teaching load will include 12 credit hours (typically four courses) each fall and spring semesters. Faculty may also be required to teach early evening courses. Successful candidates are expected to be able to teach 100, 200, and higher level programming courses in Java and/or Python. Preference would be given to candidates who can teach Cybersecurity, AI, Operating Systems, Web, Game, or Mobile Development, or foundation courses offered by the Department, and are willing to teach both in-person and online classes.

Basic Qualifications
Required Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Ability and willingness to teach programming courses at 100, 200, and higher level.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to teach both face-to-face and online classes.

Preferred Basic Qualifications

  • PhD or ABD in Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated potential of teaching excellence in the areas of computer sciences.
