Waubonsee Community College seeks a full-time tenure-track Instructor of Biology, with a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, diversity, and holistic student success, to deliver a broad range of courses within the Biology Department
Duties and expectations of this position include, but are not limited to:

Prepare course syllabi and design lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to address different learning styles and ensure that students successfully meet the course objectives and outcomes. Incorporate learning-centered principles and concepts and motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational experience.

With a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and ongoing professional growth, provide leadership of the Biology Department through curriculum development, student success initiatives, mentoring adjunct faculty, student advising, assessment, student clubs and organizations, and College events and committees.

Work collaboratively with professional colleagues to serve the needs of students and community. An interdisciplinary focus integrating innovative learning strategies and the demonstrated ability to enhance the success of diverse student populations is essential. Model professionalism with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Teaching assignment may include days, evenings, and/or weekends at four campuses throughout the district – Sugar Grove, Aurora Downtown, Aurora Fox Valley, and Plano. Courses may be offered in three delivery modes, face-to-face, online, and hybrid. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Biology or closely related field

Two years of teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Biology

Expertise in teaching Anatomy and Physiology or Microbiology

Post-secondary teaching experience.

Experience with online and/or hybrid delivery.

Experience incorporating technology and multimedia applications into teaching and learning.

Experience teaching traditionally underserved populations.

Compensation Range: 66,120.00 – 81,410.00 Placement on the salary schedule is dependent on qualifications. Qualifications include education and teaching experience. Displayed range does not include summer or overload hours.
Work Schedule: Fall and Spring semester
Work Hours: Classes may be offered during daytime, evening and weekend hours
