Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown.

Horry-Georgetown Technical College seeks a full-time Residential & Commercial Electricity instructor. The successful candidate will be required to teach Residential & Commercial Electricity courses at any Horry-Georgetown Technical College campus locations. This individual will report to the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Department Head and will be responsible for the following duties (this list is not intended to be exhaustive):

  • Instructional planning, teaching, and learning; student recruitment, retention and advising.
  • Assist in the maintenance of lab and classroom equipment.
  • Maintaining standards of the National Electric Code.
  • Work with Electrical program advisory board to maintain and enhance curriculum and assessment of program outcomes.
  • Assist with scheduling, budgeting, and other duties; student advising, etc.
  • Participate in available training to keep current in Electrical Technology.
  • Instruct and evaluate students in a live work setting who are performing general service and repairs related to Electrical curriculum objectives.
  • Teaching duties include fundamentals and competencies relevant to Electrical Technology

Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture and laboratory instructions, student advisement and registration. Must be willing to work split teaching shifts that require days and evenings on two campuses. Must fully embrace the responsibility for maintaining an acceptable number of students within the program

Advertised Salary:Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave.

Minimum Requirements:South Carolina master electrical contractors license. 10 years’ experience in industry. 5 years’ supervisory experience in industry. Three (3) years of teaching or training experience in the classroom or industry setting.
