Job Description
The Department of Physical Therapy at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio is inviting applications for a full-time, 11-month tenure track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. We are seeking the most qualified applicant, those with expertise in orthopedic rehabilitation and pain science are especially encouraged to apply. Starting date is January 1, 2026 – although this is negotiable. The program has created a strong student-centered learning environment. Faculty value collegiality and interprofessional working relationships that all lead to a positive work environment.
Consideration will be given to candidates who complement and/or expand current department research and teaching strengths. The ideal candidate should show evidence of the ability to develop a successful, extramurally funded research program. Teaching will be within the area of expertise of the candidate. All faculty within the Department participate in service at the department, college, or university level and advise entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students.
Teaching and research collaborations within the college and university are fostered and encouraged. Resources for teaching and research are available within the department, college, and university.
Responsibilities:
* Teach graduate courses with a commitment to active learning and use of technology in the learning process
* Sustained productivity and growth in a focused research program
* Successful grant writing using internal and external sponsors
* Advise and mentor DPT students
* Service to the department, school, college, University, profession, and community
* Contribute to an interdisciplinary environment of research, instruction, and community collaborations
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed physical therapist in Ohio or eligible to be licensed in Ohio
Expertise in physical therapy developed over at least 3 years of clinical experience.
Terminal academic degree (PhD, DSc, EdD or similar).
ABD considered with degree completion by employment start date.
Demonstrated scholarly productivity as evidenced by recent completion of terminal academic degree or a track record of peer reviewed publications.
Plan for establishing and conducting independent research.
Preferred Qualifications
History of extramural funding, experience mentoring graduate students or post doctoral fellows.
Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy.
Expertise in Pain Science.
