This is a nine-month, fill-time, special non-tenure track position.
Salary based on Associates Degree:
9 month + 4 weeks: $51,174 – $63,96
9 month + 6 weeks: $53,160 – $66,450
9 month + 12 weeks: $59,686 – $74,608

Position Description & Details
Are you a leader in land surveying and civil engineering and eager to share your knowledge and expertise with the next generation of professionals? Join our team as an Assistant Teaching Professor in Surveying and Engineering Technologies. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on students while shaping the future of the Automation, Energy, & Advanced Technologies industry.
Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for supporting students through the preparation and delivery of instruction in land surveying and civil engineering technology. Areas of focus will include surveying lab and office procedures, principles and practices of land surveying, 2-D and 3-D CAD drafting and modeling, and materials testing. Additional areas of instruction may include construction and project management, spreadsheets, water management technology, and/or planning and development. Emphasis is placed on industry best practices and hands-on applications of land surveying and civil engineering technology principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Principles of Surveying and Engineering Technologies: Lead engaging lectures and interactive classes to deliver core land surveying and civil engineering principles, promoting an environment of critical thinking, discussion, and student participation.
- Student Mentoring: Guide and support students in their academic and professional development, providing timely feedback and mentorship.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and grades, ensuring compliance with academic standards.
- Committee Work: Contribute to departmental and campus-wide committees, helping to shape academic policies and initiatives that enhance the student experience.
- Commencement Participation: Actively participate in commencement and other academic ceremonies, celebrating the achievements of our students.
- Additional Duties: Undertake any other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Dean and the Academic Division Dean.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Land Surveying or Engineering Technology and five years of non-teaching work-related experience.
- Familiarity with common industry software, including Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Appropriate bachelor’s degree.
- Curriculum development, teaching, and/or training experience.
- Experience with hands-on teaching methods.
- Professional Land Surveying Registration (preferably North Dakota or a neighboring state).
- Familiarity and experience with civil engineering technology topics, including, but not limited to, statics/mechanics, water/wastewater systems and treatment, planning/development, and materials testing.
- Familiarity with 3-D parametric, including Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Inventor (or similar).
