Position Summary:
Central Michigan University School of Music seeks a Lecturer in Music Theory. This is a full-time, 9-month, fixed-term appointment. Duties include: teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, aural skills, counterpoint, form and analysis, musicology, and related areas; teaching in other music areas subject to the candidates expertise and the needs of the School of Music.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Music Theory or related area; ABD candidates will be considered so long as degree is conferred by start of appointment.
- Successful college teaching experience.
- Qualifications necessary to teach in related areas.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in popular music genres (e.g. rock, pop, hip-hop).

About the Department:
The School of Music is located in a state-of-the-art 119,000 square foot facility with a 500-seat concert hall housing a 61-rank Casavant organ, a 100-seat recital hall, recording facilities, and 79 practice rooms.
