St. George’s University invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in the Large Animal Medicine & Surgery department in the School of Veterinary Medicine, beginning 1/1/2026

Objective:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver didactic and clinical instruction in Equine Internal Medicine and general Large Animal Medicine to veterinary students.
  • Support and supervise practical sessions including physical examination, diagnostic techniques, and treatment procedures involving equine patients.
  • Participate in and help coordinate the large animal ambulatory service, ensuring high-quality clinical teaching and client communication.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of examinations, practical assessments, and clinical competencies.
    Provide routine and emergency clinical care to university-owned animals and client-owned animals presented to the ambulatory or on-campus services.
  • Contribute to the care, welfare, and medical management of teaching herd animals with an emphasis on equine health.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and maintain a progressive and dynamic clinical learning environment.
  • Engage in continuing professional development and stay current with advancements in equine internal medicine and veterinary education.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development initiatives, and quality assurance activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and MSc are required. PhD is desirable.
  • Advanced training in Equine Internal Medicine (residency training or board eligibility/certification desirable).
  • Clinical experience in equine internal medicine and herd health.
  • Strong commitment to veterinary education and clinical teaching.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience in a veterinary academic setting.
  • Demonstrated interest in educational innovation and student mentorship.
