The Global Engagement Office (GEO) leads the WCU community of educators in developing and preparing students to become globally aware and engaged members of a diverse society.

Reporting to the Associate Provost for Global Engagement, the Associate Director serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO), maintaining the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS); advises and assists international students to maintain their F-1/J1 visa status; and develops and implements programming, modules, communications and events to support the unique needs of international students.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate professional experience advising students in higher education; experience coordinating and implementing special events, programs and communications to support and engage international students; excellent organizational skills; attention to detail; and the ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse campus community including students, faculty and staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO), maintaining the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)
  • Advise and assist international students to maintain F-1/J1 visa status
  • Design and deliver orientation program and other modules for international students
  • Develop and implement programming and events to support the unique needs of international students
  • Assist with website and social media updates to ensure effective communication with international students
  • Support the WCU’s bi-annual recertification and redesignation applications with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program
  • Monitor and maintain international student F-1/J1 visa status
  • Update records in the SEVIS database, Banner, OnBase, and other WCU applications
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Two (2) years of progressive higher education experience
  • Professional experience advising students
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating and implementing student centered programming
  • Experience coordinating events
  • Experience reviewing and applying federal guidelines related to higher education
  • Experience with higher education systems such as Banner, D2L, and OnBase
  • Experience using social media tools

Special Instructions

This position requires US citizenship or permanent US residency.

Salary and benefits are dictated by the State College and University Professional Association (SCUPA) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
