Department: 142-Political Science
Position Summary
The Department of Political Science at Villanova University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will have broad training in American national institutions and the presidency as their primary research interest. While we are not looking for a scholar of Congress or the federal judiciary, candidates with a secondary research interest in some other area of American national institutions (e.g., the federal bureaucracy as a whole or specific departments/agencies within the bureaucracy) are especially welcome to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in their areas of specialization at both the undergraduate and graduate level. While the successful candidate will also be expected to teach an undergraduate research design course, we are not seeking someone principally trained as a methodologist.

The online application should include a detailed letter of application indicating your interest in and suitability for the position, statements of teaching philosophy and research interests, curriculum vitae, official graduate and undergraduate transcripts, three letters of recommendation, two short writing samples, two syllabi (if available), and evidence of teaching effectiveness. All materials must be received by September 12, 2025.
