Wilberforce University is a small, Liberal Arts University with an Entrepreneurial focus, and a legacy of being the nation’s first private HBCU. Broad responsibilities include teaching, research and grant writing, and service to the community. Demonstrate instructional proficiency teaching in various modalities (in-person, virtual, or online). This appointment starts in the fall of 2025.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching a broad range of English and Literature courses, including Composition I, Composition II, and Literature of African Americans, or a related field involving the Humanities.

· Advise and mentor undergraduate Digital Humanities majors and current students with Literature as a concentration.

· Engage in and maintain active scholarly research activities.

· Serve on departmental and university committees and engage in other forms of service to the university and academic community.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Candidates must have a doctorate in English, Literature, Digital Humanities, or a related discipline.

· Candidates with ABDs considered but must have a conferred Ph.D. by December 31, 2025.

Minimum Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with Prior Teaching Experience.
