Wilberforce University is a small, Liberal Arts University with an Entrepreneurial focus, and a legacy of being the nation’s first private HBCU. Faculty are expected to fulfill the mission and core values of the university with dedication, compliance with all university and academic area policies, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a commitment to the success of the students and the university. Broad responsibilities include teaching, research and grant writing, and service to the community. Demonstrate instructional proficiency teaching in various modalities (in-person, virtual, or online). This appointment starts in the fall of 2025.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching a broad range of English and Literature courses, including Composition I, Composition II, and Literature of African Americans, or a related field involving the Humanities.
· Advise and mentor undergraduate Digital Humanities majors and current students with Literature as a concentration.
· Engage in and maintain active scholarly research activities.
· Serve on departmental and university committees and engage in other forms of service to the university and academic community.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Candidates must have a doctorate in English, Literature, Digital Humanities, or a related discipline.
· Candidates with ABDs considered but must have a conferred Ph.D. by December 31, 2025.
Minimum Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with Prior Teaching Experience.
