Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- ABD, finished with doctoral coursework, with expected PhD completion in May 2026.
- Experience in college-level teaching either as a faculty member or graduate teaching assistant.
- Scholarly excellence through written work, either through a record of scholarly publication or strong evidence of the potential for publication.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Earned PhD in Musicology.
- Experience teaching music history courses to music majors and music graduate students.
- A secondary area of specialization in media studies or another area that diversifies the course offerings and research strengths of existing faculty in terms of time periods, geographical regions, musical genres, or methodological approaches.
- Commitment to contributing to the vitality of the academic community within the School of Music and across the University through innovative teaching and dedicated service.
Description:
The University of Oklahoma’s School of Music invites applications for a one-year lecturer/instructor position in musicology, to start on August 16, 2025. We seek candidates of exceptional promise who specialize in 20th and 21st-century Western art music. Scholars of emerging musicological fields are welcome to apply.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Teach courses in musicology, including the undergraduate music major survey, graduate-level seminars on 20th and 21st century music, and other courses related to the applicant’s interests and areas of expertise.
- Engage in research and creative activity.
- Participate in service to the School of Music, the University, and the profession as appropriate for a one-year position.
