Position Title: Associate Vice President for Advancement

Reports To: VP for Advancement

Department: Advancement

FLSA Status: Exempt; occasional nights and weekends; occasional travel

ThePosition Summary:

King University, a Christian liberal arts university in Bristol, Tennessee, seeks an experienced advancement leader to serve as Associate Vice President for Advancement. Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, the AVP will provide leadership to assigned areas of fundraising and play a vital role in shaping the future of the division. In this role, the AVP will assist the Vice President for Advancement in bringing focus, organization, and alignment in fundraising in support of the strategic direction of the institution determined by the president of the university.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of eight years of professional fundraising experience.
  • Broad experience and organizational knowledge of all areas of Advancement.
  • A commitment to best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility to travel.
  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree Preferred).
  • The candidate must have, and be able to articulate, a personal faith in Jesus Christ and support the mission of King University.

Skills and Experiences Needed:

  • A consensus builder with high integrity who is committed to maintaining a collaborative, trusting, and inspiring environment in which results are recognized and celebrated.
  • Seasoned professional with experience managing multiple stakeholders within an organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills; strong verbal and written skills.
  • Possesses both creative and analytical skills.
  • Proven record of success in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and principal gifts from individual and institutional donors. Additional experience in securing planned giving commitments and foundation grants is preferred.
  • Professional communication in all matters regarding King University, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and security of all personal and financial student information.
  • Perform the individual responsibilities of a principal gifts officer, including cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and principal gifts.
