Two Assistant Professorships in Organic and in BioOrganic/Chemical Biology

The Chemistry Department invites applicants for two full-time tenure-track positions, one in organic chemistry and one in bioorganic/chemical biology, beginning fall 2026. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, or a closely related field (postdoctoral experience preferred) and demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and research. The successful candidates will be expected to teach ~4.5 classes per year, including organic chemistry, biochemistry (for those with bioorganic expertise), general chemistry, and electives in the candidate’s area of specialization. Research with undergraduate students is expected and strongly supported. Candidates with areas of expertise that complement existing areas of strength at Middlebury and within the department are particularly encouraged to apply.

As part of a full teaching load, the candidate will also occasionally contribute to Middlebury’s First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings. All faculty at Middlebury are also expected to contribute to service to the College including, but not limited to, committee membership and serving as Director or Chair of a Program or Department when asked.
