Job Summary

The Full-Time Medical Assisting Instructor will provide didactic, laboratory, and practical instruction to students preparing to enter the medical assisting profession. We are seeking an educator who can translate their clinical experience into engaging, evidence-based teaching across a variety of instructional settings. This position includes responsibilities for live and online instruction, clinical coordination, and program development in alignment with the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) standards.

Typical Job Functions

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in medical assisting courses using multiple modalities (in-person and online lecture, lab, and clinical).
  • Develop, update, and maintain instructional materials such as syllabi, course content, evaluation tools, and learning activities.
  • Evaluate student performance using a variety of assessment methods; maintain accurate and confidential student records.
  • Maintain scheduled office hours to support student engagement, advising, and mentorship.
  • Participate in recruitment and orientation activities for prospective and new students.
  • Coordinate and manage student clinical placements and compliance through platforms such as My Clinical Exchange; conduct routine site visits and serve as a liaison with clinical affiliates to ensure high-quality supervision and maintain accreditation compliance.
  • Contribute to statewide, college-wide, and program-level planning and curriculum development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards (CAAHEP/MAERB) and support program documentation, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Engage in program accreditation and institutional assessment activities.
  • Participate in Medical Assistant program Advisory Board meetings and support ongoing curriculum and program development.
  • Serve on college committees and attend department, division, and institutional meetings.
  • Participate in professional development to remain current in instructional methods and medical assisting practices.
  • Monitor student and faculty compliance with program policies, health and safety standards, and clinical site requirements.
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and maintenance of program supplies and equipment.
  • Attend college events including graduation ceremonies and in-service sessions.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or Technical Certificate in Medical Assisting from an accredited institution.
  • Current or recent experience as a Medical Assistant for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Experience with electronic health records and medical office software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must reside in the State of Idaho. (CEI does not sponsor H-1B Visas.)

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in training or teaching at a college level
  • Bilingual (Spanish)

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
