Ferrum College is seeking applications for a faculty position in English at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal. Successful applicants will be dynamic, student-focused teachers whose area of expertise includes:

• First-year composition
• Writing as a learning activity

Minimum Qualifications:

• Earned Master’s Degree or Doctorate in English, Creative Writing, or related field as of August 2025.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate strong relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.
• Ability to teach a variety of courses in English.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well with students and faculty.
• Adaptability, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and willingness to modify schedules to meet departmental needs.

Preference will be given to the candidate who demonstrates the ability to interact with diverse audiences and who can effectively incorporate innovative, inclusive pedagogies and technology into their teaching. Review of materials will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
