The Academic/Career Advisor works with the Academics Division under the direction and supervision of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Instruction. The Academic/Career Advisor has responsibilities of advising students regarding information, procedures and academic requirements of a specific program or major. The Academic/Career Advisor should have broad interests and skills in learning assistance, career search, evaluation, and student development. The fundamental focus of the Academic/Career Advisor is to provide retention and academic advising services for the students.All SAU Tech employees are expected to demonstrate excellence in interpersonal behaviors and be committed to effective collaboration with colleagues. Examples of Duties:

  • Promote service between advising and the faculty
  • Assist with orienting new students to the campus.
  • Work with faculty and staff in the student retention process.
  • Perform academic advising.
  • Work with the appropriate personnel to coordinate recruitment, advising, and retention activities.
  • Assist with the registration process and register students for classes.
  • Assist in coordination, maintenance and teaching of the Scholars Seminar Course.
  • Serve as Assistant Director of the Tech Scholars program.
  • Administer tests as needed.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Background check
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Master’s Degree in counseling or student affairs and/or Higher Education work experience in related fields.
    • MS Office skills and experience with Jenzabar One (J1) preferred.
