Position Summary
La Salle University’s Natural Sciences Department needs a highly qualified instructor to teach freshmen-level science courses for pre-health and pre-nursing majors, primarily anatomy and physiology (A&P) but also including clinical microbiology. The position may also have an opportunity to teach upper-level biology electives centered around anatomy, physiology, histology, or related subjects..
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in departmental and university meetings, committees and service activities, and to assume other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of the Natural Sciences Department. This position is non-tenure track.
This position will be available to start Spring 2026 or Fall 2026.
Essential Duties
- Teach assigned course(s).
- Prepare course materials consistent with departmental learning objectives.
- Provide timely grading and feedback to students.
- Provide guidance and support to students.
- Participate in departmental, school, and university related service.
- Participate in Natural Sciences department meetings and meetings of the A&P teaching team.
Required Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in a field related to anatomy/physiology.
- Knowledge and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications
- A PhD, MD, DO, or terminal degree in an anatomy/physiology related field (MD, DO, DPt, etc) will also be considered.
- Ability to teach other science courses in the pre-health and biology fields (e.g. upper-level anatomy and physiology courses, clinical microbiology).
- Previous science teaching experience.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
- The job requires the ability to teach lecture or lab sections of science courses, primarily anatomy and physiology, but also potentially clinical microbiology and other biology courses.
- The job requires movement around the classroom or laboratory, lifting heavy objects such as anatomy models, and performing and teaching standard laboratory techniques in a biology laboratory.
- It may be necessary for the position to teach an evening class of A&P or other course.
