About the Department

Founded in 1969, the Department of Respiratory Therapy at Georgia State developed over the years into a nationally acclaimed graduate and undergraduate program. A nationwide survey of respiratory therapy educators conducted by the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio ranked our program first among all respiratory therapy programs in the country. Faculty in our program integrate critical thinking and simulation into teaching and research to provide students with the opportunity to excel in the profession. Our location in downtown Atlanta provides students with the opportunity to perform their clinical practice at some of the leading healthcare institutions in the southeast including Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory Healthcare, Northside Hospital, Piedmont Hospital and Wellstar Health Systems.

Position Description

The Department of Respiratory Therapy in the Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions at Georgia State University in Atlanta invites applications for a 9-month non-tenured track position at the rank of Clinical Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor. The position offers an exciting opportunity to begin or further a career in respiratory therapy education in a large, well-established program. Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degree programs are offered in respiratory therapy. Join a team of well-respected faculty, with almost 200 students and multiple large, well-equipped clinical sites. Teaching is valued and collaboration is required. The Department of Respiratory Therapy is located in a large urban university and affiliated with major medical centers throughout the metro Atlanta area and United States.

Required Experience

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
At least two years of clinical and/or didactic teaching experience

Required Education

Master’s Degree with 18 hours in the major of respiratory therapy.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations, etc

Must be eligible for licensure in Georgia
Must be willing to begin a doctoral program within 12 months of hire

Pre-Employment Requirements

A criminal background check and official transcripts are required.

Work Hours

Flexible Schedule
University Hours of Operation:
Monday – Friday; 8:30am – 5:15pm

Salary: 70,000 – 75,000
