Job Description
The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We are seeking candidates with an established, NIH-funded research program in basic cardiovascular science. Experience in translational research is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assume a leadership role within the NIH-funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in Molecular and Cellular Signal Transduction in the Cardiovascular System-a Phase II COBRE based in the Department of Pharmacology. This highly collaborative center includes researchers across multiple departments within UNR and UNR Med, and the position offers a strong opportunity to contribute to a vibrant research environment.
Applicants must demonstrate a strong record of scholarly publications, lab leadership, and mentoring. A commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and academic teaching is essential.
UNR Med is home to a dynamic community of faculty engaged in cutting-edge research, training, and education. In addition to cardiovascular science, institutional research strengths include smooth muscle biology, neurobiology, and muscular dystrophies. Faculty benefit from access to advanced core facilities, including high-resolution imaging, single-cell analytics, proteomics, genomics, bioinformatics, and transgenic animal phenotyping. The department is ranked 18th nationally in NIH funding among Pharmacology departments.

PhD, MD, or MD/PhD
NIH-funded research in cardiovascular science
Academic credentials commensurate with appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
The University is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee’s spouse or domestic partner.
