Job Summary
Provides leadership and directs graduate student advising and support services. Plans, develops and implements strategies for generating and maintaining enrollment for academic programs offered by the college. Works with curriculum maintenance and development processes. Facilitates inclusive practices to support student success. Serves on college and Cleveland State University (CSU) committees as requested. Supervises assigned personnel. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education, business administration, student affairs, communications or related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in academic advising, student services, student recruitment and retention, or developing educational programs.
- Two (2) years of supervisor or leadership experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to establish and maintain driver eligibility under CSU’s Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree, preferably in education, business administration, student affairs, communications or related field.
- Experience with curriculum implementation and management and with higher education retention strategies.
- Experience with higher education contact management, recordkeeping or student management software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of principles and practices concerning admission, advising, academic administration and student retention.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, “Customer Focus” attitude, and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to make effective presentations, have strong public speaking skills, develop, and drive change and effectively communicate change.
- Skilled in project management, problem-solving, decision-making, analysis, communication, follow-through, influence, and persuasion. The ability to function as systems thinker and be solution-minded with a global perspective. Ability to manage a large-scale project to completion on deadline.
- Ability to take ownership of projects, anticipate department needs and develop appropriate responses, meet deadlines, attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and be a quick and continuous learner.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and respond to changing circumstances.
- Ability to track, report and analyze data; assist with student data for reporting requirements.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality on a wide range of issues.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and to travel off-campus as needed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.
