Reports to: Program Director

Purpose: Teaching (Primary), Coordination and Supervision of Individual Courses

Stephens College Nursing Program seeks a Full-Time (12-month) Tenure or Tenure-Track position in the growing BSN program. This position seeks individuals with teaching and practice experience across multiple disciplines and venues. Current needs includes expertise in these areas: pediatrics, quality and safety, nursing research, leadership and management, fundamentals, public health, mental health, simulation, and medical-surgical nursing.

The Nursing Faculty will:

  • Support the mission, vision, and ideals of the College and the Nursing program.
  • Engage in teaching, scholarship, and service activities as defined in the Faculty Personnel Policies and the Constitution of the Corporate Faculty.
  • Serve as principal faculty in the Nursing program with assigned teaching duties based on background and experience in class, clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings.
  • Provide academic advising to Nursing students, including tracking and documenting progression, communicating with the students and the program director, and completing related college departments.
  • Contribute to daily school operations.
  • Develop and teach Nursing courses.
  • Oversee the clinical, laboratory, and simulation learning experiences.
  • Develop and pursue a research and scholarly agenda engaging students.
  • Contribute to accreditation and registration requirements.
  • Facilitate program assessment and evaluation.
  • Provide service to the college and profession.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of curricula and programs.
  • Engage in professional development and the scholarship of teaching.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Current active licensure to practice professional nursing in Missouri and has never been disciplined in any jurisdiction.
  • MS in Nursing from an Accredited College or University that includes a clinical component.
  • Experience teaching at the collegiate or university level.
  • Ability to provide clinical teaching experiences across more than one specialty area.
  • Record of clinical experience, more than 3 years.
  • Ability to flex teaching style to a wide variety of learners.
  • Excellent collaborative and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to the program and student success.

Highly Desired:

  • DNP or PhD in Nursing from an Accredited College or University.
  • Doctoral research experience.
  • Experience teaching baccalaureate and graduate-level nursing, particularly prelicensure.
  • Experience with accreditation and program assessment.
  • Experience in engaging undergraduate students in research opportunities.

The nursing program started with an academic-practice partnership with Boone Health in 2020 and includes over 1,000 applied learning hours at Boone Health and the surrounding healthcare community. The program accesses a state-of-the-art learning simulation center housed at the hospital one block from the school. The program has approval from the Missouri State Board of Nursing. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org). The program is approved for 24 students in each cohort. The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated nurse educators looking to grow and strengthen nursing in Missouri.
