Florida A&M University’s Institute of Public Health is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Assistant Professor vacancy.
Responsibilities
This position will develop and teach courses in Health Policy and Management at the master’s level. The ideal candidate will advise students and conduct independent as well as collaborative research; Develop courses for a future doctorate program in health policy and management; Current courses include Principles of Health Policy and Management, Management of Public Health Programs, Professional Development in Public Health, Economic Aspects of Health Care, Program Evaluation, and Health Outcomes Research.
The Institute of Public Health also has an online MPH program. This is a two year (5 semesters) course of study leading to a generalist MPH degree. The incumbent will teach online courses as well as on-site in the Health Policy and Management track for first and second year students.
Minimum Qualifications
The Institute of Public Health of the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has an opening for tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor position in the Health Policy and Management Track. The ideal candidate must possess an earned doctorate in Health Policy and Management. Teaching and research experience required. The incumbent will teach health policy management courses, advise Master’s students as well as conduct independent and collaborative research; Must have Ph.D. or equivalent in Health Policy or Health Management, with potential focus areas including: access to care for underserved populations, evaluation of public health programs, performance of healthcare systems, public health workforce, long-term care and aging, and other public health, health management, and public health policy related topics.
Recommended Competencies
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
Knowledge of Statistical software (i.e. SAS, SPSS, Stata, R);
Knowledge of Computer-based learning management systems (i.e. Canvas);
High-level written and verbal communication skills; and,
Demonstrated competency in the field, collaboration with colleagues, and commitment to student success.
Preferred Qualifications
Earned Ph.D. in Health Policy, Health Management, Health Economics, Public Health Law;
Excellent writing and communication skills;
Teaching, research and publication experience;
Online teaching experience highly desirable;
Experience in curriculum development; and,
Desire to teach in a dynamic and growing Public Health Program.
Pay Plan
This is a Faculty position.
