Bryant University’s School of Health and Behavioral Sciences (SHBS) invites outstanding and highly motivated scholars to apply for a full-time tenure track position in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) Department. We seek a dynamic individual passionate about experiential learning, integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into biological and biomedical sciences research and coursework, and championing these skills among faculty and students. The School of Health and Behavioral Sciences offers undergraduate majors in Biology, Exercise and Movement Science, Health Sciences, and Psychology, a graduate program in Physician Assistant Studies, a 3+1 B.S. to M.S. in Healthcare Informatics, and a Doctor of Clinical Psychology (PsyD).

The ideal candidate will possess a background in higher education, with research interests and potential industry experience in biological and biomedical sciences. Examples of areas that align with current departmental teaching needs and research interests include but are not limited to neuroscience, nutrition, microbiome studies, and infectious disease research. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the integration of AI into their research and pedagogy, including applications such as computational modeling of biological systems, AI-driven analysis of omic or biomedical data, machine learning approaches to biological or physiological problems, or the use of AI tools to enhance student engagement and learning in the biological sciences.

As an Assistant Professor, the successful candidate will provide high-quality learning experiences, establish a productive line of research, and assist with developing new undergraduate and graduate programs.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Teach, and as appropriate develop, undergraduate and graduate courses in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences department.
  • Implement innovative teaching methods that incorporate technology and AI to enhance student learning and engagement in the biological and biomedical sciences department.
  • Conduct research that involves Bryant undergraduate students, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and present at academic conferences.
  • Contribute to the advancement of biological and biomedical sciences at Bryant through building community partnerships and enhancing experiential learning opportunities.
  • Mentor and advise students on academic and career pathways in biological and biomedical sciences.
  • Develop and/or teach capstone courses in the general education program.
  • Assist with development of new graduate and undergraduate programs in SHBS.
  • Participate in service at the departmental, college, university, and professional levels.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to fostering a scholarly environment that values fairness, respect, and the contributions of all individuals.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent in health sciences, nutrition, health informatics, biological or biomedical sciences, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching, research, and curriculum development in biological and biomedical sciences, with a focus on experiential learning and technology integration.
  • Strong background in AI and technology applications in health sciences.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research, and to fostering an academic environment that welcomes and supports individuals from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences.

  • Systems & Software – proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
  • Team Orientation & Interpersonal skills – highly motivated team player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external organizational partners.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
