Florida A&M University is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applicants for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-earning Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. Proclaimed “The Conscience of the Academy,” the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, fondly known as CSSAH, produces Dynamic Leaders, Exceptional Artists, and Extraordinary Social Activists. A multidisciplinary college, CSSAH connects students to the world through various learning opportunities, including research, internships, performances, service learning, online instruction, and experiential scholarship. The position will be housed in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, one of the eight degree-granting programs in CSSAH. The Criminal Justice program equips students with the fundamentals of social science research to stimulate their ability to apply social and criminological theory and social science research to address societal issues related to the criminal justice system.
Responsibilities
Teaches 4 undergraduate criminal justice courses each semester including but not limited to one or more of the following: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Medicolegal Death Investigation, Criminal Justice Statistics, and Research Methods;
Teaches in multiple modalities including hybrid, online and traditional face-to-face classes; Participates in the assessment of student learning and program review;
Participates in curriculum development;
Maintains an active program of research and scholarly work to include presentations and publications;
Provides service to the department, college, and/or university in furtherance of department, college, and university goals and objectives; and
Performs related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with administrative responsibilities and College, division, and department policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned Doctorate or Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, criminalistics, or criminal-forensic science from an accredited institution.
The Department is seeking an individual with teaching and research interests in medicolegal death investigation, injury and trauma analysis, blood spatter interpretation, archaeology, or forensic (physical) anthropology.
Candidates should be able to teach introductory criminal justice and crime scene courses such as medicolegal death investigation and forensic archaeology as well as courses in research methodology or statistics.
The successful candidate will be expected to work with external agencies in the justice community.
Preference will be given to candidates with experiential professional experience and those who can expand course offerings related to his or her specializations for the department.

Active, full membership within the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) or the American Board of Medical Death Investigators (ABMDI).
Anticipated Salary Range
Maximum Hiring Rate: $70,000.00
