The Natural and Behavioral Sciences division seeks qualified candidates for a full-time Assistant Professor in Forensic Biology. Faculty appointments are for a ten-month period and the standard teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses (in person and online) including Forensic Science, Forensic Biology I and II, Forensic Biology Capstone, Genetics, Introductory Biology and Chemistry courses, and associated laboratory courses contributing to scholarship and mentorship.
- Teach courses, outside of Forensic Biology, in support of the Hilbert College Blueprint sequence.
- Participate in the FEPAC accreditation process for the Forensic Science (Lab) program.
- Prepare students for entry into forensic science-related and pre-health professions.
- Engage in developing collaborations and networks of support across the campus, with programs at other institutions, and with law enforcement and crime laboratory professionals.
- Student advisement and serving on college committees are required.
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning.
- Mentoring undergraduate research.
- Experience with program and course development, knowledge of assessment practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of college and community, displaying cultural competence and emotional intelligence.
- Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core Franciscan values.
- All faculty are expected to contribute service within the division, college, and community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Forensic Biology, Forensic Science, or related discipline required; PhD in Forensic Science is preferred.
- 1-3 years teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
- Experience in a criminalistics/forensic biology laboratory (private or government) with a strong foundation in the holistic approach to forensic science
- Experience in student advisement preferred.

Compensation: $55,000 – $65,000
This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and organizational needs.
