The Department of Hospitality and Retail Management in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenured/tenure-track, Assistant/ Associate Professor to begin September 1, 2026. Applicants should have expertise in hotel and lodging.

Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a dynamic student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with a breadth of student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

Required Qualifications
1. Candidates must hold a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) (or earn a Ph.D by August 31, 2026) in hospitality and tourism or closely related degree.
2. We invite applicants with research interests in hotel management along with a broad array of hospitality and tourism areas. Candidates should have a demonstrated record or a record indicative of publishing in top-tier academic hospitality and tourism journals.

Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • A strong history of hotel industry experience
  • Experience with and interest in teaching revenue management
  • Experience with and interest in teaching casino operations management
  • A strong commitment to excellence in teaching (evidenced by positive teaching evaluations, teaching awards, etc.)
  • A desire to participate in doctoral education
  • A strong commitment to raising research funding
  • Ability to teach and research in a multi-disciplinary environment
