The Department of Animal Science at Berry College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor, open specialty, to begin in August 2026. As the largest major on campus and characterized by early hands-on learning for students, we seek candidates from a range of specialties in Animal Science who will complement the expertise of our current faculty.
Teaching will include introductory courses as well as other upper-level coursework in the major, including courses in the area of expertise. Successful candidates are expected to establish a strong research program involving undergraduate students. We are especially interested in candidates with experience mentoring animal science majors seeking careers in a broad range of fields.
Berry College has a working dairy, equine center, beef and sheep units, which are used in teaching and research. In addition to a commitment to high-quality teaching and scholarship, the successful candidate should also possess a strong interest in service to the college community, including the mentoring of students in a residential college environment. Our collegial department of nine faculty members strives for excellence in teaching animal science and mentoring students from a wide range of backgrounds. The candidate should share our department’s commitment to student engagement inside and outside of the classroom. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with the student-run Berry Enterprises and the Campbell School of Business.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in animal science or a closely related field, with postdoctoral experience preferred.
