The College of Idaho invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Spanish to start in August 2026. We seek candidates who share the College’s commitment to creating an inclusive academic community through their teaching, mentoring, scholarly activity, and service.
The successful candidate is a dedicated educator who will be able to teach at all levels of our Spanish curriculum, including Spanish language courses, Spanish for Heritage Speakers, and special topics courses in Spanish and in English. The candidate is also expected to contribute to the Spanish Department’s January term course offerings, such as short-term study away, community-based experiences, and/or other innovative learning opportunities. The typical teaching load is 3-1-3 (three courses per semester during fall and spring and one January term course). The College’s faculty benefit from support for scholarship, research, and travel through campus funds and a sabbatical program.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Spanish, Applied Linguistics, or a related field, and have native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English. Applicants with experience in Basque Studies, Diaspora and Border Studies, Latinx Studies, Migration, study away, or Spanish Linguistics are especially encouraged to apply.
